Family history

The number of alcohol addicted people is increasing significantly all over the world day by day. While some are making habit of consuming alcohol to get rid of their mental problems some are getting addicted to it as a result of getting associated with bad people. Alcoholism is a very common problem these days and is a quite critical one because it often leads to severe consequences. Apart from mental problems and association with bad people there are several factors that encourage people to develop alcoholism and family history is one of the most important among all. In fact family history is considered as a big risk factor for alcoholism.

Perhaps you are wondering how can family history of a person encourage him or her to start drinking alcohol. Well, it is because they are having the gene of their parents and grand parents who were alcohol addicted. Different survey that have been conducted all over the world have proved that a major percentage of addicted people have got a family history of alcohol addiction for several generations. There are thousands of such families all over the world where the male members have developed addiction to liquors generation after generation.

Children of such families are more likely to get addicted to alcohol at a very young age.

While mentioning about family history as a major risk factor for alcoholism one must say about the difference between children of two alcoholic parents and one alcoholic parent. According to scientists and doctors, children whose mother or father is alcoholic are less tend to develop alcoholism than those whose both parents are alcoholic. It has been found that children of single alcoholic parent develops addiction to alcoholism at a later age than those whose mother and father are both drinkers. Generally children with a family history of alcohol addiction make habit of drinking liquors at the adolescence and get totally addicted within the age of 30.

It has to be mentioned here that people coming from families with no history of alcohol addiction often get addicted to alcohol too. Despite proper care from their parents and association with good people they develop a habit of drinking liquor at a very young age. Generally people who have adopted children face this problem. If you are adopting a child who has come from family with a history of alcohol addiction there are high chances that alcoholism will creep in him or her at a young age.
