Age

You might have tasted some alcoholic beverages when you were young. Well a lot of people do that. Many people make a habit of drinking alcoholic beverages at their young age but with the passage of time they learn how to control the level of consumption. But there are lots of people who start drinking alcohol at a very young age but cannot control their level of consumption and thus get addicted to it. Age is considered as one of the biggest risk factors for alcoholism.

At their young age, people tend to lead their lives in their own way. It is a period of life when people start disobeying their parents and start thinking that whatever they do and whatever they decide is correct. But as they are immature they make mistakes. Teenage is a period when people start making friendship with different types of people. They join different communities, go to clubs and get associated with different class of people and start doing things that they are not aware of. This is the time when they slowly get introduced to things like drugs, tobacco and alcohol.

Apart from these, there are several other other reasons why young people get addicted to alcohol.

Social problems play a major role here. Children who do not get the proper parental care feel isolated at home which effects their mind. There are thousands of families across the world where children grow up watching problems among their parents. Lots of children see separation of their parents and find themselves in a totally new environment when their father or mother get married to another person. These things make a negative impact on the mind of children and they start maintaining distance with their parent and often get associated with bad people that leads to addiction to alcoholism.

At their young age, people face different types of psychological problems. Apart from problems in the family they often suffer from mental depression, frustration, anxiety and shock which discourage them to think freely. In such situations, young people start consuming alcohol to get rid of their mental disturbances and due to improper care on the part of their parents they slowly become addicted to alcohol.

While mentioning age as a risk factor for alcoholism it has to be said that it is very much essential for parents to take proper care of their children. Things like depression and frustration may creep in their children at any time. So parents should help their children to get rid of their mental problems. They should also be more careful about their children while they are quarreling among themselves.
