Jack Kerouac was born on March 25th in the year 1922 as Jean Louis Lebris de Kerouac in Lowell, Massachusetts. He started learning English at the age of six because h French American parents spoke in joul which is a French dialect used in Quebec. In his childhood he lost his brother and it left a indelible mark in his young mind. Since his childhood Jack Kerouac was a good athlete and he played as a running back in American football. For this reason he earned a scholarship from Boston College, Notre Dame as well as from Columbia University. During his time in Columbia University he wrote a number of Sports article for the Columbia Daily Spectator, the student newspaper.

Works and style of Jack Kerouac
Jack Kerouac is known as the father of the Beat Movement. His writing methods were hevily influenced by Jazz and bebop. He also introduced his Buddhist studies in his writing. Jack Kerouac used to call the style Spontaneous Prose which is a Literary style very close to Stream of consciousness. The notable works of Jack Kerouac include On the Road, The Dharma Burns, Visions of Cody and Big Sur.

Jack Kerouac was constantly in search for a life that he thought worth living. For this reason he traveled from one place to another. His search also took him to many places outside the United States of America. He was also taken to heavy alcohol consumption. Later in 1950s he was introduced to recreational drugs. During the consumption of such drugs he used to be in a euphoric state of mind.

Jack Kerouac was one of the eminent writer known as the king of beat generation. His works also acted as a reluctant catalyst for the counterculture of the 1960s. Many of his works also influenced the contemporary writers as well as musicians.
