Anthony Burgess is a multi-talented British personality who ventured into the foray of writing and composing, translating, broadcasting and eduction. He was famous as a critic, novelist , composer, essayist, travel writer, educationalists, librettist, poet and playwright. Anthony Burgess lived for long time in Southeastern Asia, the United States and in Mediterranean Europe. He wrote many fictions and travel stories. Anthony Burgess was born John Burgess Wilson on 25th February in the year 1917. he was born in Harpurhey which is a suburb of Manchester. During his confirmation the name Anthony was included in his name making him John Anthonny Burgess Wilson. Since the year 1956 he began using Anthony Burgess as his pen name. As a child , he attended St. Edmund' Roman Catholic Elementary School and later moved to Bishop BilsBorrow Memorial Roman Catholic Primary School. He later went to Xaverian College and Victoria University of Manchester. He took interest in English language and music.

Adult life of Anthony Burgess

During the war Anthony Burgess worked with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He went to a friend ambulance station are Morpeth in Northumberland. He also conducted army dances. Later he went to Army educational Corps and conducted speech therapy in mental hospital. Anthony Burgess also had teaching career which later took him to Malaysia. Then he went to Brunei to teach in Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin College.

The notable works of Anthony Burgess include his Malayan Trilogy The Long Day Wanes. The books in this trilogy include Time for a Tiger, The enemy in the Blanket and Beds in the East. He also wrote Enderby and The Right to an Answer, One hand Clapping and The Worm and the Ring. One of the best know works include A Clockwork Orange, Nothing Like the Sun, Beard's Roman Women and Napoleon Symphony.

As a screen writer he wrote screen play for Moses the lawgiver, Jesus of Nazareth and A.D. He penned articles for many Italian, French, British and American Newspapers. Anthony Burgess also composed several symphonies, operas and musicals.
