He played in the position of a winger and his footballing skills include pace, balance, acceleration, goal scoring ability, strike the ball with both feet and his ability to get past defenders. Despite his talents, he was unable to lead Northern Ireland to the World Cup. However, his stint with Manchester United made him internationally known and he was Diego Maradona's boyhood idol.
