About Winston Churchill
Iconic drinkers range from actors, musicians and artists to noted politicians, lawyers, businessmen and sports personalities. Winston Churchill is an iconic political figure as well as an iconic drinker. This English politician had a major political role to play during the Second World War, and at such stressful time, he had to turn to alcohol to nurse him through his mental exhaustion and stress. A famous quote of this famous political personality said that his rule of life prescribed as an absolutely sacred rite smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after and if need be during all meals and in the intervals between them. Pol Roger champagne produced pint bottles exclusively for Winston Churchill. After drinking all his life, he came to the conclusion that he had “taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me.”

Born on 30th November, 1874, Winston Churchill was a soldier, a politician, and finally the prime minister of England. He is heralded as one of the greatest heroes of 20th century Britain. He is remembered for his unfaltering spirit while leading his country to victory in the Second World War. Besides being an eminent politician, he could play with words as well. This facet of his nature is reflected through the many biographies, histories and memoirs that Winston Churchill has written. The most famous of all his works is the four volume A History of the English-speaking People (1956-58). In the year 1953, he was felicitated with the prestigious Nobel Prize for his contribution to literature. In the same year, he received knighthood and was addressed as Sir Winston Churchill.
