Boris Yeltsin, the first popularly elected President of Russia, is one of the iconic drinkers who were in politics, law and business. He remained President of Russia for about nine years from 1991 to 2000 and had been in the headlines number of times for his alcoholism and neurological disorders. During his foreign tour in USA there was scandalous reports of his drunken state and even after that there were incidents when Yeltsin behaved weirdly which was presumed to be the direct result of alcohol. His addiction to alcohol was largely discussed in the media. However, there was controversy about his addiction to alcohol as many stated that his bizarre behavors were because of neurological problems.
